No matter the foundation or direction of one’s beliefs, the realm of spirituality has a pull entirely of its own. It was in response to this pull that I decided to attend one of the increasingly-popular workshops run by the charismatic Helena B. Scott – a published author, historian, medium and spirituality coach. Having some rather elementary knowledge of the chakras and an interest in holistic wellbeing retreats, I opted for her workshop entitled ‘Know the Chakras & Aura: Cleanse, Balance and Protect Your Energy’. "I was comfortable asking questions about paranormal topics and came away with the wisdom that only an expert can provide. She even brought up a topic that I have been studying for awhile regarding my family's migration from the Balkans. Through my ancestor's search, I recently discovered that when my family was hired in the 15th and 16th centuries as masons to help build churches, they would hide symbols in the stone from the old country. They would inconspicuously carve Jewish and Islamic symbols in archways and pillars that only a keen eye would spot. The crazy thing was Helena brought up that same topic when talking about the ornate mosaic floor in Loftus Hall. She discussed the numerology involved, symbolism, and how it related to the religious beliefs of the times.
